About PressPoint
Nobody opens a laundry business because they dreamed about it as a kid. Ours started out of frustration — our founder, Marcus, spent two years driving across Manchester every weekend trying to find someone who could handle a suit properly without shrinking it or charging a fortune. Eleven years later, we run three locations across the city, with our flagship branch in the Northern Quarter at 58 Tib Street.
Our team of fourteen splits into two groups: front-of-house staff who handle drop-off, pickup, and the everyday conversations that come with running a neighbourhood shop, and our production team — six trained pressers and dry-cleaning technicians who run the machines, spot-treat stains, and do finishing work by hand where a machine just won't get it right. Two of them have been with us since year one.
Four years ago, we switched our dry-cleaning process to a gentler, hydrocarbon-based method rather than the older perchloroethylene approach most laundries still use — better for delicate fabrics, and without that faint chemical smell. We also run a small in-house alterations service two afternoons a week, which started as a favour for regulars and slowly became popular enough to formalise.
Today, alongside our walk-in customers, we work with local hotels, restaurants, and a boutique gym on long-term commercial contracts — our longest-running hotel partnership is now in its seventh year.
